ARE YOU SAVED?

EXTRAS

SAVED FROM WHAT???

You may have heard the expression or question, are you saved? If you have ever been asked that, you may be tempted to ask what you need to be saved from. In the Bible, which is the authority for life and practice, it says this:

Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

This means that everyone is a sinner and that we have missed the mark that God has set for us. Just as an archer has a target he is trying to hit, God has given us a target to hit. The bad thing is no one ever has or ever will hit that mark. The Bible goes on to say:

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death (Hell)

In other words, because we missed the mark, our penalty is eternal judgment in Hell. But that isn’t where the story ends.

Romans 5:8 – But God commendeth His love toward us in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

You see, God did not want us to have to die, so he sent His Son to take our place. All we have to do is believe in Him.

Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.
